Find More ā€˜Great Fit’ Brands

As an agency finding sponsorship leads for newsletters, we have to continually find new ā€˜great fit’ companies, month after month.

Depending on the niche and target advertiser, this can get tough, especially if you’re looking in the same places.

So we’ve developed this approach as part of our toolkit for finding new potential sponsors.

Let’s get it.

šŸ¤– ChatGPT

Shock. This uses ChatGPT.

Basically, to cut a long story short, I made a custom GPT to provide a spreadsheet of companies that align with our advertising sales needs.

Using basic ChatGPT, often provided irrelevant companies in an unhelpful format. But programming in the mission, context, and required format, massively improved things.

šŸŽÆ Deep Dive on the GPT

During the setup, here’s the TLDR of what I told it:

  • We are selling advertising space and further mission context setting

  • We are looking for companies whose customers align with various audiences to be defined

  • We need you to respond with a table including Name, Website, Industry and Size.

This is what this looks like in practice:

🫳 Prompting

You can enter simple prompts like ā€˜find companies for my audience of b2b cryptocurrency professionals’.

Here’s one I made earlier…

Once you’ve checked the list, you can guide the AI to course correct if the relevance or size is off…

It’s not perfect. But, it does find great companies that have not been unearthed using Apollo, human search or others.

šŸ”Ž Finding Contacts

Here’s how we go from a ChatGPT search to a list of contacts ready to go.

Apollo bulk import - turn the response into a CSV, import into Apollo and find contacts in bulk. This a quick, but often misses 30-60% of the company’s due to insufficient data.

Apollo List Building - Clicking on the website then adding them to a list using the Apollo Chrome extension one by one. This is still slightly manual, but efficient. The hit rate is near 100% and you can qualify each company.

This is my favourite approach personally, it’s quick but also forces the team to qualify manually and exercise that muscle.

My favourite approach

Outsource - Simply share the Chat with my favourite lead gen gal on Fiverr and give her my target job titles.

šŸš€ Then comes the outreach.
